It starts with a consultation call. Please call 803-310-4083 and email a copy of the RFP to mswright425@gmail.com
We will review your timeline and briefly discuss the funding need along with the RFP. If SECOND LOOK is the right fit, your edit project will be put on the calendar.
A non-disclosure form is standard with every grant editing or writing contract and assumed at the time of the consultation.
SECOND LOOK grant editing LLC services require prepayment that is non-refundable.

The editing process covers a wide range of evaluation. We ensure each question is answered as a stand alone and restructure sentences if needed. We may contact you for stories or statistics to clarify the need or prove your organization's ability to perform the proposed work. We will be honest with your team and may "dig" for clarification, details and/or ask questions to ensure the funder will grade your grant positively.
SECOND LOOK is your writing partner. Our only mission is to provide your organization with the most competitive grant proposal. When edits are returned to you, the original submitted proposal paragraphs will remain as colored text and the SECOND LOOK edited paragraph will follow in black. This makes for easy tracking of changes. Summary notes may be included as an overall evaluation.
SECOND LOOK editors have worked in the nonprofit sector but are NOT employed by any nonprofit as part of our team. Additionally, based on multiple factors, funding may not be granted for the best of submissions.

Mary Wright has been a professional fundraiser since 2007 and was successful in sales prior to her nonprofit career. Above all, she promotes professional standards to evoke trust as a representative of the community and encourages others to do the same. It is her personal belief that funding should have a direct purpose to serve the greater good in the best possible way.
She started with small pleas including a community playground, reading nooks in schools, and fiscal support for free medical services. She built her skill level to writing multi-million level grant proposals. Mary earned her grant writing certification from UNC. She was nominated Executive Fundraiser for the Midlands (Columbia, SC) twice and has rasied over 40M for the community to date. During the pandemic when emergency funding was available, Mary wrote a winning grant for a rural food pantry, in the Lowcountry, that desperately needed additional refrigeration. As an employee of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, she coached nonprofits seeking competitive funding and continues to mentor other grant writers in her personal time.
Mary's recent wins as a grant writer include $150,000 from the American Resuce Plan Act, $175,000 for the Colonial Life Spirit Award, $100,000 from Boeing, $50,000 from Lululemon Foundation, $50,000 National Community grant, and a $36,000 USDA grant, to name a few.
Behind the scenes, Mary has been the "voice" of many C-suite speeches that encouraged giving in workplace campaigns. She has written award ceremony scripts which give her the perspective of writing in someone else's style. She has served as a grant evaluator, offering feedback and grading grant report submissions against rubrics and their proposals.
Now, in 2024, grant funding is more competitive than ever. Proposals require more documentation, process explanations, proof of service and clarity of programmatic outcomes like never before. She is grateful to be of service to grant writers in the United States.
